Mar 22, 2021 What is SerialMailer for Mac SerialMailerlets you add personalized details to your mass email messages. Give each message a custom name, order number, or even attachment. SerialMailer is the bulk mailer that cares about privacy. It lets you add personalized details to your mass email messages while keeping all your recipient lists locally on your computer. Give each message a custom name, order number, or even attachment. The List Name is the name displayed by SerialMailer in the address source list and the Download URL points to the web address at which the file is stored. The file may be password protected by the web server. If it is, SerialMailer will ask for a user name and password when it downloads the file.
One way to organize your address lists is to use the Database Manager that comes with SerialMailer.By default, its window should open once SerialMailer is launched.You can manually open it by choosing Database Manager from the Window menu.
With the Database Manager, you can access address lists from different sources. These are:

Here you find the contacts stored in the Contacts Application. They can not be edited in SerialMailer.
This is the internal database of SerialMailer. Here you can create your own address lists with custom fields.
SerialMailer can download address lists from remote sources. These lists are stored here. All edits to addresses in these lists are temporary and will be overwritten once a new version is downloaded from the server.
Address lists from these data sources can be accessed in the left part of the Database Manager Window.
You can add a new list to the internal SerialMailer database, or a new remote list using the button under the data source list. Choose 'Local List' if you want to create a new address list that is stored on your computer. To remove a list, select it and press the .
Address lists can be imported and exported by using the Import and Export commands from the File menu.
Remote address lists allow you to download a list of addresses from a remote web server and automatically import it into SerialMailer. This can either be a static file, or it can be generated on the fly using a script running on the server (e.g. to access a MySQL database).
To add a new remote address list, choose Remote List from the pull down menu. You will then see a window where you can enter the settings for the list:

Encoding defines the encoding of the text file and Delimiter specifies which character separates the columns of the csv file.
Here is an example of a csv file that SerialMailer could fetch from a server. The delimiter used is tab.

To update the local copy of the remote list, select it in the sources list in the left part of the window and click the button in the lower right.
To edit the settings of the list, double click its entry in the sources list.
